Goodbye Adolescence

It has been a while since I have talked here, and boy how things have changed. I don’t really have much to say, despite all that has happened in my life during college. Just as everyone, I could probably write a book on my college life, it was a blast. Intel Internship

So a brief update on my life. I have left my former job as a Software Application Developer at JPMorgan Chase and I have accepted an internship position at Intel. I will be working in C/C++/Fortran compiler support with a focus on High Performance Computing. I am also (hopefully) going to get a chance to tackle some stuff on Intel’s MeeGo initiative, as I have pretty extensive experience with Java. Spring 2011 Semester Begins at the University of Houston

So here I am in the Spring semester of my Junior year at the University of Houston. Some exciting news is that UH has achieved Tier 1 status which is a pretty big deal. Basically it acknowledges that the University has very high research activity. UH received more than $100 million in grants which was a big factor in receiving the status. This puts UH on par with the University of Texas and Texas A&M University which were previously the only Texas tier 1 schools. Work is Fun

A lot of people I know have pretty lame jobs. Today I was snacking on oatmeal, drinking mocha coffee and coding. I have dual monitors, on one I have Eclipse and some SSH sessions into our Linux and Solaris boxes at work. The other runs IE6 (lame) for testing my code and Firefox for code-lookup (and huffingtonpost reading) purposes (today in particular was Struts 2 action wildcard tutorials).
